12 Dreams Of Dr. Friedkin
"12 Dreams of Dr. Friedkin" is a model of a theatre
performance evoked by dreams and hallucinations from
the very beginning to the end. However, unlike Freid or
Breton who analysed and tried to explain the deepest
sense of dreams, nothing is analysed or explained in this
piece. Here there is no secret meaning, everything is on
the surface. Everything here is absurd to simplicity and
simple to absurdity. Actors here are least of all actors,
they resemble sleep-walkers, who move on the stage
not knowing what for and what it means. They just
pretend to be singing, eating, killing, making love --
without a word uttered, because the only real Word
here is music, which gives life to all other things. If
outwardly "12 Dreams..." can be defined as a simulation
of dreams and hallucinations; inwardly it is a
somnambulistic ballet impenetrable for inquisitive and
quick sighted meaning-seekers, because all this, in the
long run, is no more than "exercises for an empty head",
for emptiness is the beginning of a different life.
