Hereditary Allegories : A Study in Genetics

A & B : The Forgetful Gene

The gene which causes a propensity for forgetfulness was found on Chromosome #19. In Mouse A, this gene has been removed. Mouse B remains unchanged. Both A and B come from generations of mice that, when given the task of running a maze, exhibited profuse confusion and apparent forgetfulness. After removing the Forgetful Gene from Mouse A, performance in maze-running was greatly improved. It performed significantly better than its litter-mate, Mouse B.

Researchers are assuming a strong desire for lack of forgetfulness among humans, and are receiving substantial corporate sponsorship for future research. Critics of this research correlate lack of forgetfulness with lack of imagination. In addition, they're concerned about the creation of new social divisions. Research continues outside of this debate.
