Mouse O has had a unique sequence of DNA inserted into a germ cell, making it capable of passing this change on to future generations. This new transgenic sequence instructs the mouse cells to grow and divide at an ever slowing rate. Initially, this may extend the mouse life for a few hours. After multiple generations, however, the mouse may come to live for hundreds of years.
