Al and his crew added colorized newsprint; very nice touch. I've always been in awe of how much material this rag covers in such a timely fashion. As always, this mainstay has plenty of band Ints. music reviews [which by the way, have included covering the techno/electronic & hip-hop/rap circuits on top of the rock/punk genres] as well as spew and spittle. Buy and die.

There was a time when I went to school in the middle of bum-fuck central FLA. I worked in the PSA, Production, Music Depts., and DJ'd at my college radio station WFIT-FM. A lot of us going to school, living and breathing radio/music discussed starting a zine, because we were starved for culture. Well, I split before it blossomed fully, and the end result is this stellar rag. "Music, culture, tech." I'm glad to see that someone's makin' bank, and putting their college degree to good use. Way to go Ian!

This maiden voyage covers Tom Wheeler, member of the DC band Dick Army, inciting a riot in "Punk Rock, Anarchy, and Trademarks" [reminded me of the time Shockwave Todd and me and the TongueBather's went at it...at least Todd and I found our engagement entertaining...so did the weekly Baltimore City Paper], "Advice for Major Label Employees", as well as "Creative Sabotage in the Workplace", "Big Brother Gets Wired: The Dark Side of the Internet", and butt-loads more bowel-jostlin', inciteful articles. This rag is is for Hell-raisers, Whistle-blowers, Corporate resisters, and Rabble rousers. Rabble on!

Noah spews forth a bastion of skarticles..."Ska at Large: Getting Props or Selling Out?" So you wanna be a Rude Boy/Girl? There's a run on "...The Real Roots of Rudeness"---a must read. Plus, lots of musical releases reviewed, the ethnography of ska in the "Jamaican Music Map", pixs, and Abby Biggie Smalls' Van Derrlin's "Zines Aplenty..." which requires further commentary.
Abby's article offers some good points and constructive suggestions for the anal-retentive zine publishing-type folks. She states, "...the ever-increasing number of zines being published would precipitate greater competition to produce a better zine, and the overall quality of zines would improve. Unfortunately, it appears that the invisible hand of free market economy won't touch zines with a 10 foot pole." I'd like to pose a question: Would a die-hard Zinester want to be extended an offer from a representative of the imperialistic/capitalistic money mongers? I think not. What Abby is suggesting in her article is conformity, compliance, and accommodation. The operative here is "zine." Not an association I am akin to when it comes to zine publishing. Hello Abby, get a grip! If these folks did touch zines, zines would perhaps qualify as magazine? No thanks, beeby.
Here's some advice for those of you who are die-hard DIY-types like m'self/don't give a shit what the neighbor's think/do your own thang...rip out this page of this otherwise stellar rag, and blow out a hefty back-blast from your fleshy folds of skin at a God-deafening pace before you wipe. That is all.
Oh, keep sending the Hatemail. Thanks!
